Practical Nursing

Program Description:

Patient care The Practical Nursing program is designed to provide adult students with the skills and knowledge required for today's licensed practical nurse. The 1500 clock hour program is self-paced allowing the student to maintain part-time employment and/or family responsibilities.

A pre-entrance test (TABE - Test of Adult Basic Education) is a scheduled after an application is received. To be considered for entrance into the program, the applicant should score at or above the 10.0 grade equivalency.

College Credit:

Students receive up to a full year or two semesters of nursing courses at the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission schools of nursing that offer a two-year nursing program.

Certifications:

  • CPR- Health Care Provider
  • CNA- Certified Nursing Assistant
  • CMA- Certified Medication Aide
  • Phlebotomy skills/ IV Therapy skills and EKG skills

Career Opportunities:

The Licensed Practical Nurse works under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or dentist. The employment opportunities for the LPN are abundant and projected to grow in a variety of settings such as:

  • Hospitals
  • Long-Term Care Facilities
  • Doctor's Clinics
  • Private Duty

Salary Range:

Locally: $10-16.00 an hour
Statewide: $10-23.00 an hour

Tuition:

In-district tuition is $2.00 per clock hour, and out-of-District is $4.00 per clock hour for approximately 1500 clock hours of combined classroom, laboratory and clinical experience. Students are required to attend a minimum of 24 hours per week.

  • Textbooks-$632.00
  • Fees-$765.00
  • Graduation-$110.00

Room, meals, transportation expenses, and school supplies are not included in the above figures.

Clinical Facilities- Cimarron Nursing Center, Kingfisher Regional Hospital, Gilmour Elementary School, Kingfisher Child Care, Kingfisher County Health Department, Center of Family Love, and St. Mary's Hospital, Enid.
