Health Careers Certification

Program Description:

Health Careers Certification prepares the student for entry into the health field, or for those currently in a health profession who wish to obtain additional skills or certifications.

This self paced program is divided into three major sections. Section One contains a basic core curriculum required in all health professions-safety, basic assessment techniques, and professional development. Section Two consists of Medical Terminology, and Anatomy & Physiology. Section Three consists of a specific career path area chosen by the student: Direct Care; Therapeutic Care, Home Health Care, or Medical Office/Health Information Management.

Following the successful completion of Health Careers Certification, students can seek entry-level employment in their occupational specialty, or pursue further education and training at a two-, or four-year college or university.

  • Direct Care - Long-Term Care Nurse Aide
  • Home Health Care Aide
  • Therapeutic Care - Intro. to Massage Therapy, Dental Assisting, Occupational/Physical Therapy Aide
  • Medical Office/Health Information - Clinical Medical Assistant
  • Pharmacy Technician

College Credit:

Three hours of college credit is available through Redlands Community College in El Reno, Oklahoma for Medical Terminology. There are also several hours available through Northern Oklahoma College in Enid, Tonkawa, and Alva.

Certifications:

Following successful completion Section One and Section Two, the student will take the Health Certifications Core Exam. After successful completion of Section Three, the student will take the occupational competency exam for the chosen career path.
