and Definitions
Articulation - A process
for coordinating the linking of two or more educational systems to help
students make a smooth transition from one level to another, without
experiencing delays, duplication of courses or loss of credit.
Declaration of Intent
- a form which must be completed by high school students who plan to
request college credit for courses taught through an approved cooperative
agreement in compliance with the Oklahoma Regents for Higher Education
policy requirements. The student must retain a copy of the form and
the technology center and Higher Education Institution will keep a copy
on file. The student has a maximum of two years after high school graduation
to apply for cooperative agreement credit. The Declaration of Intent
does not obligate the student to attend that higher education institution.
Cooperative Agreement
- A formal agreement between a technology center and a higher education
institution, and approved by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education,
which allows a student to receive college credit by co-enrolling at
the college or university while attending the technology center program
or, in most cases, by applying for advanced standing credit after successful
completion of the program. Cooperative agreements provide expanded student
access to education and allow technology centers and higher education
institutions to share resources.
Advanced Standing Credit
- The process by which students have up to two years after graduation
to apply for credit earned.
Extrainstitutional Learning
Credit - Credit granted by higher education institutions based on
learning which has taken place outside of the formal higher education
structure. This learning may have been acquired from work and life experiences,
the military, etc.
Earning College Credit
High School students can
receive college credit for coursework offered through a cooperative
agreement by advanced standing, or in some cases, by co-enrollment.
A Declaration of Intent must be signed by high school students while
attending Chisholm Trail Technology Center stating the student's intent
to pursue college credit after successful completion of the CTTC program.
The Declaration of Intent
complies with the Oklahoma Regents for Higher Education policy requirements
which are: 1) complete the same projects and examinations as adult students
participating in the cooperative agreement program, 2) achieve a minimum
grade of "B" in all approved technology center courses, and
graduate from high school and be admitted to the participating higher
education institution.
Upon successful completion
of the program, and meeting the requirements outlined above, a student
must complete twelve credit hours on the college campus before the hours
earned will be transcripted. In most cases, a $5-$8 per credit hour
fee will be charged to have those hours put on the transcript. Grades
will be transcripted at the college as "P" (Pass) or "S"
(Satisfactory). Students must meet all college admission requirements.
Adult students co-enroll
at the participating college while enrolled in the participating program
at Chisholm Trail Technology Center. Co-enrolled students will earn
an actual letter grade of "A", "B", "C",
"D", or "F" on their college transcript. Adult students
can also apply for advanced standing credit upon successful completion
of a participating program. Students pay a transcripting fee of $8.00
per credit hour at Redlands Community College. OSU-Okmulgee does not
charge a transcripting fee to adult students who co-enroll. Students
must meet all college admission requirements.
